Interested in the hobby, but don’t know how to get started? Don’t have a detector, but want to know if this is the hobby for you? Been detecting for a while, and just want to pick up some additional tips? We’ve got a class for you! (see below for schedule).
Susannah, a professional detectorist, will walk you through the steps of getting started in this wonderful hobby. She has hunted in both the United States and England, and has been researching and practicing metal detecting since 1980. She currently presents metal detecting basics classes for the St. Louis County library system, the Missouri Civil War Museum, Columbia Illinois library, and the Gateway Metal Detecting Club.
In her class you will learn technique and tips, equipment, safety, laws and regulations, how to research, where to hunt, resources, and much more. Hands-on training is provided in the last hour of class. You will be searching (but NOT digging) for Roman coins, world coins, or medieval buttons (depending on supplies of each item), which you may then keep.
Come join us for a fun and informative time!
Please bring your detector and manual, and pinpointer, if you have one. If not, one will be provided.
****If this particular class runs through lunch, PLEASE BRING YOUR LUNCH AND ANY NON-ALCOHOLIC DRINKS.
