Found by Pat Reece: “70’s-style ring that rang up as a high silver reading. Located with an AT Pro at about 3 inches”.

Found by Joe Mefford: “Jynnifer and I got our [first detector–ed.] Ace 250 today!  I took it out in the backyard and found this old rain gauge holder about 3 inches down! Yay! Just wanted to share. Let the fun begin!”

Found by Bill Seibel: “Was getting a mixed signal but decided to dig. When I flipped open the plug I found ‘Tic Tac Toe, three in a hole’ plus a bonus penny in the plug. All clad but still cool.”  5 inches deep using a Whites TreasurePro.

Found by Susannah: “Well, my record for finding things that blow up still holds. This (uncleaned) is a trigger mechanism to a gun. Possibly a black powder pistol. The trigger still moves.” Found 5 inches down with an XPDeus.

 

Found by Tom Rother: Wooden handle (missing) brass grooving trowel. Found about 6 inches down.

Found by Rob Willett: Goose Island keychain bottle opener, dog tag, modern quarters and pennies, silver half dollar with date worn off. Used a Fisher F22.

Found by Pat Reece:  “Wentworth” silver-plated spoon by the H&T Manufacturing Company, which dates it to 1928. Located with an AT Pro at about 4 inches during the club’s Mystery Hunt #1.

Found by Jim Hammond: Various change and a key. Also, a silver-plated tablespoon from the “1847 Rogers Bros Co.” The pattern is “Tipped”, which dates it between 1879-1898.

Found by Susannah: “This is a Czech reliquary medal. The top hinges back to hold a small piece of cloth that had been touched to a religious object, like saints’ bones or holy oil. The picture is of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The back of the medal says “Czeche Slvku”, meaning “Czecho-Slovak”, the name in 1918 of the first creation of the two countries into one. In 1938 they became Czechoslavakia. The medal would therefore date between 1918-1938.”    Found with an XP Deus at 3 inches.

Found by Matt Huntman. “I have found 2 rings this month.  I found the silver .925 men’s ring on Aug. 18th at Forest Park at a depth of 4 inches.  The black and silver ring made of tungsten and ceramic was found Aug. 23rd at Forest Park at a depth of 3 inches.  I found both with my Garrett AT-Pro.”

Bobby Lewis: “I found this silver ring at a vacant school.  It was about 3 inches deep, and I was using my Whites V3i.”

Found by Kathy Crowell at monthly hunt: An angel pendant and fan earring, plus a hinge and oil can lid.

Iron Cross 7.18.2016 b

Found by Bill Seibel. “OK I don’t know what this is but it is interesting….
What is it?
About 1″ long by 1/2″ in width.
Looks to have a Iron Cross in the middle of it.
Rings up as copper but doesn’t look to be copper. Found where a German family lived.
Found 3″ deep using a White’s TreasurePro.”
ASK THE EXPERTS answer: It looks to be the top of a utensil handle.

Found by Matt Granicke. Silver Lady charm  figurine, 3 inches deep, Ace 250. Great Seal hat band button. The shank is threaded and is slightly smaller than a dime. Found 4 inches deep, Ace 250.

Found by Susannah on Mystery Hunt #2 with XP Deus at 3 inches. Heavy adjustable copper ring, initials first thought to be “SH” but now known to be “HS”. See August newsletter article for research done by Bill Seibel.

Found in Dogtown by Lee Nunnally and Dave Steck, at a house built from lumber from the 1904 World’s Fair.  The nail punch looking item is in reality a copper connection to a lightning rod.  It was connected to a deeply buried cable.  If anyone has any insight as to what the disc is…Lee would appreciate it.  It was found where an old garage was that housed a Model T.  All were found 4-6 inches deep.

ASK THE EXPERTS answer: The disc is a Model T timing gear.

Mark Harris–“I found this in our local park using Teknetics Omega w/ N.E.L Tornado coil.  The park sits behind what was formally the old school which dates back to the very early 1900’s.” A very ornate handle.

 

Found by Chris and Sam Allard with a Fisher F2 and White’s 6000/Di Pro SL at about 4 inches. The first image of a McKinley Hobart Campaign Badge is what the badge would have looked like originally. The second image is the actual badge Chris and Sam found.

1906 V nickel and pre-1918 horseshoe found with special permission by Susannah at the MO Civil War Museum at 6 inches using an XP Deus.

Lee keychain April

Found by Lee Nunnally on 4-28-2016, in Affton, using a Garrett 250, 4 inches deep.  Lee says, “How did the owner lose these, the 2 keys are so big?”

Rob's coins April

Found by Rob Willett. A 1940 nickel, 1943 Mercury winged Liberty silver dime same hole 3 – 3 1/2 inches deep. Fisher f22 was use and the soil was wet.

 

Found by Lee Nunnally on 4-7-16, detecting with a Garrett 250.   The Marine Corps token (Toys for Tots) was found within one inch and 2-nickles, 1-dime and 8-memorial pennies 2-4 inches deep.  “The token was significant for me, since I am a Marine Corps Veteran.”

Vice grips

Found by Lee N. and Dave S.   Suitcase latch, vice grips, pennies, nails and bolt, at a depth from 1-3″ using a Garrett 250 and 350.

Found by Matt G.   1945 Liberty Walking half dollar at a depth of 3″ using an Ace 250 with 6.5×9 coil.

Found by Matt at a depth of 2 inches–14″ horse hoof rasps
using a Garrett Ace 250 with 6.5×9” coil

Found by Rob, the hands at a depth of  5 inches and the dime at a depth of about 5-6 inches using a Fisher F22. Both hands slightly different, possibly used for holding a placecard.

 

Obverse–“Turnbull Society Carnival Club. Metairie, LA.”. Reverse–“GOOD LUCK, 1972 St. Patrick’s Day, ‘May you be in heaven one hour before the devil knows you’re dead’”. Found at 2 inches with XP Deus by Susannah. Silver dollar size, aluminum.

 

Dug by Matt–1700s-1800s? hand forged iron fence top at 2 inches; “The Pullman Company” silver plated table spoon, c1940 ?, at 4 inches, both dug with Garrett  Ace 250 with 6.5×9 coil.
